The School has extensive links and partnerships with communities and organisations within Australia and overseas. The following provides examples of only some activities in which our staff and students are actively involved:
- The new QUT-Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Vascular Rehabilitation Teaching Clinic extends the services currently offered to patients with peripheral arterial disease by Queensland Health, and provides a unique clinical training opportunity for clinical exercise physiology students.
- The Healthy Lunchboxes for Kids activity is held each year during National Nutrition Week and allows students to prepare nutrition-related activities and nutritional information to children and adults. In 2011, this activity was also offered at QUT’s Caboolture campus.
- An on-campus Wellness Program
has been developed to serve the health and quality of life of all QUT staff. - The Cooking for One or Two program offers a practical experience for nutrition and nutrition and dietetics students to go into the community and teach war veterans how to cook basic healthy meals.
- Fitness testing and exercise prescription program for elite athletes and sports-people assessed in the Human Movement and Exercise Clinics and Human Performance laboratories.
