QUT’s new human movement studies degrees

QUT’s School of Human Movement Studies delivers courses that offer a balance of theory and practice to equip students for a challenging role in health. Students are taught by leaders in the field, have access to state-of-the-art facilities, and gain experience in a variety of health clinic settings.

In 2010 the School will introduce two new bachelor degrees to replace the current Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement Studies) offering. The new pathways will create real opportunities for graduates to become leading professionals with specialist knowledge in human movement.

Bachelor of Exercise and Movement Science

A three-year degree designed for students who wish to pursue a career in:

Health and wellness – promoting health and wellbeing in corporate and community settings.

Sports science and performance analysis – working with professional, community and government sporting organisations.

Research in exercise and movement science – continuing with postgraduate, research, or related clinical degrees.

Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology

A clinically orientated four-year degree designed for students interested in a career as an accredited exercise physiologist working in hospitals, clinics, or private practice for the prevention and rehabilitation of chronic disease and injury.

These courses involve an applied scientific approach to exercise, health and fitness settings. It is recommended that students have completed some study in at least one of Maths B, Maths C, Biological Science, Chemistry, Physics, Health Education or Physical Education.

Double degrees

Students wishing to pursue double degrees can pair the Bachelor of Exercise and Movement Science with a course in nursing, public health, psychology, nutrition and dietetics, education, and business.
