The QUT School of Nursing maintains strong links with the health industry by collaborating with government and private health agencies and professional associations to deliver its undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing professional education programs.
Continuing Professional Education
The School of Nursing delivers several professional education programs that create learning opportunities for registered nurses who are working in specialist areas. These programs have been designed and coordinated by nurse specialists in these specialist fields. The school delivers the programs in collaboration with relevant health organisations and professional nursing groups.
These programs are open to registered nurses who have a minimum of 12 months experience and are working in the relevant area.
- The Gastroenterology Course for registered nurses is based on the curriculum of the Gastroenterological Nurses College of Australia Inc. The course provides the theoretical basis for gastroenterological nursing practice. This program commences yearly in Semester 1. A program for enrolled nurses is also available.
- Principals of Ophthalmic Nursing provides the theoretical basis for ophthalmic nursing practice. The School of Nursing delivers the program in conjunction with the Australian Ophthalmic Nurses Association (Qld).
