The School of Nursing is establishing a collaborative capacity building program with the Viet Nam Nurses Association (VNA) to strengthen nursing and midwifery services in Viet Nam.
With this program, which is funded by The Atlantic Philanthropies, the School aims to build relationships and partnerships with educational institutions, hospitals, and government and non-government bodies to improve the standard of nursing education and care in Vietnam through knowledge-exchange and education. University and clinical partnerships will be developed and strengthened and nurse teachers will be educated for their roles.
The program will also establish and maintain relationships throughout Viet Nam and Australia—essential for maintaining a sustainable focus and creating outcomes that are mutually beneficial.

Since 2006, the School of Nursing has been sending groups of undergraduate students to various overseas destinations to observe and reflect on the nursing profession globally and enjoy an invaluable life experience.
The program promotes enhanced personal and professional cultural awareness and is supported by the School’s strong relationships with schools of nursing in other countries. Destinations have included Nanjing and Shanghai, China; Hua-lien Taiwan; Bethlehem, USA; and Stavanger, Norway.
This opportunity to participate in a two-week observational study tour, taken after exams in November each year, is available to a select group of second-year undergraduate nursing students.
