Our contemporary nursing courses suit those with an interest in working with people, helping to improve the health of individuals and communities and making a difference in the lives of others. The QUT School of Nursing has been approved by Queensland Nursing Council (QNC) as a provider of nursing courses and required courses have been accredited by QNC.
The School offers a balance of theory, practice and flexibility across its undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses and continuing professional education programs. Courses are run from the Kelvin Grove campus and the Bachelor or Nursing is also run from the Caboolture campus. The undergraduate courses offer hands-on clinical and practical placements that provide students with real world skills and experience. The postgraduate courses extend theory, practice and research in specialised areas.
Pathways
- The Bachelor of Nursing undergraduate degree takes 3 years fulltime to complete, with the graduate entry program taking 2yrs. Upon graduation, students are eligible to apply to QNC for registration as a nurse.
- Double degrees provide graduates with a broader range of career options. Graduates can choose employment from either of their chosen disciplines or may choose to work in an area that combines skills across both complementary disciplines. Double degrees can be completed in 4 years (full-time), taking less time to complete than studying each degree individually.
- Postgraduate programs are available in a variety of nursing specialisations (listed below) with entry at graduate certificate, graduate diploma, or masters level. Most are available via flexible study modes, allowing students to study at their own pace and around other commitments. Mid-year entry is available for most courses.
- Postgraduate research study offers a range of research degree programs, including honours, masters by research, a professional doctorate (Doctor of Health Science), and a Doctor of Philosophy (Health).
- Continuing Professional Education programs are designed for those who are already experienced in the workforce, but would like to progress their current skill base or develop skills in a different specialisation area.
