The Graduate Cerificate in Nursing (NS32) (1 year full-time) and the Graduate Diploma in Nursing (NS64) (1 years full-time) provide graduates with a short, focused program to upgrade qualifications, knowledge and skills in particular areas of nursing practice. The courses enable students to develop competence in their areas of practice, to examine major issues and trends in nursing scholarship and practice, and to develop an understanding of research applied nursing practice.

Nurse Practitioner
The Master of Nursing Science (Nurse Practitioner) (1 year full-time) is designed to prepare graduates to:
- assess and treat clients in a specialty field of nursing practice and health care
- order diagnostic investigations within a specialty field of nursing practice
- prescribe medications and other interventions from a specialty field of nursing practice
- directly refer patients to other healthcare professionals
- conduct advanced comprehensive health assessments relevant to a specialist field of nursing practice
- demonstrate an ability to conduct clinical services using high-level communication skills, innovation and leadership in both autonomous and multidisciplinary modes of practice
- demonstrate the capacity to think critically and creatively in complex and unfamiliar environments
*The Master of Nursing Science (Nurse Practitioner) is accredited by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) http://www.ahpra.gov.au/ . Graduates will be eligible to apply to AHPRA for authorisation to practise as nurse practitioners in Queensland.
Master of Nursing
The Master of Nursing (Coursework) provides an opportunity for registered nurses to acquire an advanced level of knowledge and skills in nursing practice, and prepare for specialist roles in selected areas of health care. The courses demonstrate a clear integration with advanced practice competencies that have been established by key professional nursing organisations and various specialty nursing groups. The courses aim to further develop expertise in areas including advanced nursing practice in selected specialties, nursing research and scholarship, and leadership and management in health care. This course fully articulates and is offered for domestic and international students who are eligible for registration as a nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA).
Nurse Researcher/Academic
Registered Nurses may also continue in postgraduate studies to achieve a Masters Degree (Research) or Doctoral qualification.
