Optometry

Our mission is to provide high quality clinical education and patient care to the community. The clinic is available to members of the public as well as QUT staff and students. Eye examinations are conducted by School of Optometry students, under the direct supervision of fully qualified optometrists.

All patients attending the Optometry Clinic receive a comprehensive eye examination, including a careful history, discussion of symptoms, measurement of vision and assessment of visual requirements.

QUT Health Clinics comply with the privacy principles specified by the Queensland Government.

Cost

General examinations are provided either at no cost to the patient or direct-billed to Medicare. A full and comprehensive dispensing service for spectacles, contact lenses and other optical aids, is provided at competitive prices. Discounts on these items are available.

Patients who are holders of Pensioner Concession Cards or Health Care Cards can be assisted to obtain free spectacles through the Queensland Government's Spectacles Supply Scheme (SSS). The clinic can also assist patients who are eligible for optical services through the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
