Vision Rehabilitation Centre (VRC)

The VRC provides a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation service to patients with vision impairment. The team includes optometrists, social workers, an occupational therapist and an orientation and mobility instructor. The VRC will arrange referral to other community services if necessary.

Contact Lens Clinic

The Contact Lens Clinic is open to all students and staff of QUT and to the general public. The clinic will also accept referrals for patients requiring specialised contact lens fitting. Corneal topography assessment to assist diagnosis and lens fitting is also provided.

Paediatric/Binocular Vision Clinic

This clinic provides a complete binocular vision evaluation as well as evaluation of some perceptual skills. Management programs can be undertaken at the clinic if required, or the patient can be returned to the referring practitioner with a recommended management program.

Comprehensive colour vision assessment and reports

Colour vision assessments available in the Clinic include the Medmont C100, the Farnsworth Panel D-15, Lanthony's Desaturated D-15, the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue test, the Farnsworth Lantern test, and the Nagel Anomaloscope. Standard screening tests such as the Ishihara can also be performed.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Optometry Clinic

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Optometry Clinic was established in 1993 to provide primary eye care at the Aboriginal and Islander Community Health Service (AICHS) at Woolloongabba (now at West End) and to provide optometry students with an opportunity to work in a cross-cultural setting.

Computerised perimetry

Computerised perimetry services include Humphrey and Medmont visual field assessment, flicker perimetry, blue-on-yellow perimetry and Humphrey FDT (Frequency Doubling Technology).

Ocular photography

External eye photography, slit-lamp photography, and mydriatic and non-mydriatic fundus photography services are available at the School of Optometry Clinic.

Corneal topography

Videokeratoscopy is another specialist service provided in the Clinic. Corneal topography assessment is used for contact lens fitting, diagnosis and management of corneal conditions such as keratoconus, and monitoring of post-refractive surgery astigmatism.
