Optometric assistants play an important role in optometric practice. The School of Optometry has been involved in training optometric assistants over many years and will continue this commitment into the future.
QUT School of Optometry has offered both theory based and practical workshop training in topics such as how the eye works, dealing with the public, basic optometric techniques, spectacle repairs, vertometry, contact lens use and care and visual field techniques. Courses are held at QUT Kelvin Grove Campus and a certificate of attendance is issued to participants.
