The Contact Lens and Visual Optics Laboratory (CLVOL) is located within the School of Optometry. It is part of the Vision Improvement Domain of QUT's Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation (IHBI). The primary research objectives of the laboratory are to better understand vision, the visual optics of contact lenses and the processes underlying the development of refractive errors.
The laboratory has a sophisticated range of measurement and analysis techniques. These include methods to investigate the shape of the cornea, the optical characteristics of the eye, visual performance of contact lenses and the biometric properties of the anterior eye.
Major Research Projects:
Ocular Measurements
(Corneal topopgraphy and 3D Software; High Speed Videokeratoscopy; Pupillometry)
Optical Aberrations
(Longitudinal Spherical Aberration; Dynamic Aberrations)
Retinal Image Reconstruction
(Image Reconstruction for the Human Eye; Retinal Image Quality, Accommodation and Myopia)
