Most students enrolled in the BHlthSc will complete a professional practice unit/s, placements or fieldwork, usually in the final year of their degree. If you need further information about your practical placementle, please contact your Subject Area Coordinator.

Requirements

Students are responsible for ensuring that all individual requirements are met well in advance of undertaking a work placement.

  1. Blue Cards

Ensure that you have obtained a blue card if your prac placement will involve working with children.

  2. BHlthSc- Paramedic (PU46)

Students need to ensure further checks (such as driver's licence) and pre-requisites are completed before work placements. Communicate with your Subject Area Coordinator to clarify your individual requirements for your placement.

  3. Semester Vacation

Students wishing to complete the practical component of the unit during semester vacation periods must arrange this with their Subject Area Coordinator.

  4. Hepatitis B vaccinations

Students who go on Clinical placements during the course of their degree must undergo Hepatitis B vaccinations (3 inoculations over 6 months) and obtain written confirmation as proof of this.

  5. Insurance

QUT students are covered by a general insurance policy which is taken out by the university during these QUT organised practicums. QUT does not insure students who choose to do work experience outside the School's placement/practice program. Students will need to insure themselves (the Student Guild has insurance on offer).
