International Health Practical Placements - Student Experiences

Helen Stephens

Students enrolled in the BHlthSc will complete a professional practice unit/s, placements Linked to another web site or fieldwork as part of their degree. Final year public health undergraduate students, who have successfully completed the unit PUB565 International Health, will have the opportunity to participate in professional practice abroad in their final semester. This program provides hands on experience to students with a particular interest in international public health.

In 2009 and 2008 the “Vice Chancellor Outbound Student Mobility Grant” matched by funding from the School of Public Health (now School of Public Health and Social Work) provided partial support for up to 15 students to attend international work experience placements in Vietnam, Malaysia and China. This program has been made possible by the international relationships developed through the International Health Program project and research activities.
